I bought this book because I wanted to get an excerpt that was written about an ancestor of mine-- the only female inmate of the MO State Penitentiary during the same time of George Thompson's incarceration. I could never find it despite going through the book two or three times. Perhaps you should warn people that the book is not a faithful reproduction of the original.
I thought the book would have more facts and stories about the prisoners held there. About one half of the book is about praying and converting inmates. I took the tour of the prison after it closed and it was very interesting, thus the reason for buying the book.
An Amazing account of a time in our history that has been terribly distorted. Reads more like a diary not a novel. I am thrilled to have it in my collection.
